„Dark Paradise” tells a story of a spoiled and messed up Karmen (Rea Lest), whose safety net suddenly falls apart and she is forced to face the darkness and emptiness of the universe. More issues arise from her complicated relationship with her halfbrother Viktor (Jörgen Liik), whose inner world has been thrown upside down due to his beliefs and understandings of relationships with loved ones. This film shows the dark and hedonistic life of modern youth, filled with secrets of the past, toxic love affairs and underground world.
„Dark Paradise” stars Rea Lest („November”, „Scandinavian Silence”) and Jörgen Liik („November”, „Manslayer/Virgin/Shadow”). Also starring Maria Avdjuško (“On the Water”, „The Little Comrade“), Kristo Viiding (“Stairway to Heaven”, „Unicorn“), Juhan Ulfsak (“Erik Stoneheart, „The Last Ones“), Reimo Sagor (“Kalev”, „Take It or Leave It“), Liisa Saaremäel („Children of the Night“), Steffi Pähn („Take It or Leave It“), Kaie Mihkelson (“Stairway to Heaven”, „The Fencer“) and Ain Mäeots (“Living Images”, „1944“).
The film is directed and written by Triin Ruumet („The Days that Confused”). Co-writers are Andris Feldmanis and Livia Ulman, whose film „Compartment No 6” was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. Behind the scenes team includes cinematographer Erik Põllumaa, production designer Matis Mäesalu, costume designer Liis Plato and makeup artist Hella Marats. Film is co-produced by Jeremy Forni and produced by Elina Litvinova. It is a Three Brothers’ production.
