Fascinated by the magic of the ballet, two talented ten-year-old girls Julia and Karina, who conquered the audience in the province, dream of a professional career and study in a prestigious metropolitan ballet school. The beginning of this path is the beginning of the hardest training, a strict diet, endless rehearsals and challenges that life puts before them.

Young and attractive girls are obliged to refuse the emerging romantic feelings, because of the complete devotion to dance. Constant jealousy on the part of the partner, continuing intrigues, fierce competition and, in the end, betrayal – all this is the price of recognition and success.

The big ballet is like an iceberg, whose top is the standard of elegance and beauty, and its submarine part hides the dramatic reality.

If the author of the film „Stilyagi“ (2008), Valeriy Todorovskiy, takes upon the creation of a movie, where the main characters are being played by the famous ballet dancers, we can only imagine, how high will be raised the level of aesthetics here. The tandem of classic art and human drama gives the most beautiful in recent years film about the great ballet – „Bolshoy“.

Thae main actress of the movie, the ballet dancer Margarita Simonova, played herself in some way. Being born in a province town of Lithuania, a tallented girl, now wins the hearts of the audience on the great scene of the capital. The roles of authoritative mentors were performed by famous russian actresses Alisa Freyndlikh and Valentina Telichkina.
