Saint-Petersburg of the late 1800s is totally infatuated with the occult and the esoterics. British medium Olivia Reed arrives in the capital of the Russian Empire and attracts crowds with her public seances. Meanwhile the city witnesses a series of mystic ritual killings. Young girls are kidnapped from the streets and their mutilated bodies are found later in different parts of the city. Young police officer Rostov is investigating the murders together with his assistant Ganin. With each new victim the case becomes even more complicated.
