The romantic comedy is based on the incredible true story of Dave Fishwick, a small-town entrepreneur who tries to end the monopoly of the big banks.
Hugh (Joel Fry) is a big-city lawyer who gets a seemingly impossible task to help small-town entrepreneur Dave (Rory Kinnear). Being the soul of the community, Dave helps everyone who needs it and would now like to create a bank where all profits would go to the benefit of the city and charity. The problem is that for nearly 150 years, no new bank has received a license to operate in England, and only self-righteous big banks have been allowed to rule. Although Hugh knows that the task is almost impossible, he decides to help Dave no matter what for a good cause, and his eagerness is also boosted by Dave’s assistant Alexandra (Phoebe Dynevor), who makes Hugh's heart beat a little bit faster.
