When retired covert agent Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) learns that his former colleague Marvin (John Malkovich) has been killed, he takes his beloved Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker) to the funeral and walks right into trouble. He’s detained by the FBI who question him about his involvement in “Project Nightshade.”
The interrogation is cut short when mysterious government agent Gordon assassinates all of Frank’s captors. After Frank is rescued by Marvin who turns out to have staged his own death to avoid being targeted himself the two men and Sarah embark on an action-packed, globetrotting quest to discover the secret of Project Nightshade and why every government in the world wants it. They learn that Nightshade is a highly portable and extremely powerful nuclear weapon that went missing in Moscow some 25 years ago on Frank and Marvin’s watch.
Now, the race is on as a multitude of assassins, terrorists and corrupt governments, including contract killer, Han (Byung-Hun Lee), moves to silence the aging duo and seize the weapon at any cost. But Frank, Marvin, Sarah and another former CIA sidekick the ever-lovely, ever-deadly sharpshooter Victoria (Helen Mirren) join forces to keep Nightshade from falling into the wrong hands.
It’s a mission that takes them to Paris, London and Moscow, where they cross paths with Frank’s seductive former flame Katja (Catherine Zeta-Jones), as well as Bailey (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant scientist from Frank’s past.
Outgunned and outmanned, the intrepid foursome have only their wits and their skills to rely on as they try to save the world from Nightshade and stay alive in the process.
