Cinema info also from Ekspress Hotline - phone 1182

Open 30 minutes before the first screening of the day and closed 10 minutes after the start of the last screening.

The legendary KOSMOS cinema has raised many generations of movie-lovers and it is one of the oldest cinemas in Tallinn that has operated as a cinema consistently for the last 46 years. There are two screens in KOSMOS and the biggest cinema hall with it's 737 seating capacity is still the biggest cinema hall in Estonia. The cinema halls are equipped with modern cinema technology and thereby guarantee a pleasant movie experience in a historic and nostalgic cinema which is currently under the protection of the National Heritage Fund, while at the same time enjoying all comforts to be found in a modern-day cinema. The lobby bar offers a wide range of movie snacks and beverages.

KOSMOS opened its doors to the public on March 1, 1964. An important benchmark in the Estonian movie distribution was reached in the spring of 1993 when a comedy called "Hot Shots" played to sold-out audiences. This was the first original movie print "straight from Hollwood" (as the tagline of the local movie poster so proudly announced) that a newly formed movie distribution company MPDE (the future Forum Cinemas) delivered to the local cinema screens. In 1995, as a result of ever-growing interest towards new movies, the cinema lobby underwent thorough re-building as a result of which another cinema hall was opened to the public  that allowed the cinema to offer more movies to the public at the same time.

Forum Cinemas, the operator of KOSMOS, has taken on a goal to continuosly enhance the historic cinema as far as the technology and confort are concerned. In June, 2010, the smaller of the two cinema halls will re-open its doors to the public having undergone extensive construction and remodelling as a result of which it can boast new tecnology, fresh interior and more comfortable seating. As a result of remodelling there are fewer seats in the cinema hall with more space between the rows and much cozier overall atmosphere. The new, improved and more intimate cinema hall will have the total of 60 seats.

Welcome to KOSMOS!
